Support Group for People
Living with HIV and AIDS

In addition to providing home-based care to people living with AIDS, Mama Na Dada created a Support Group which comprises of people living with HIV and AIDS who seek and provide support to other community members in their situation. Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS can be devastating and usually results in depression and feelings of isolation. Carrying such a tremendous emotional burden often wears an individual down physically, thus allowing the virus to wreak havoc on their bodies and often resulting in premature death.

Mama na Dada Support Group strives to provide positive emotional support. Its members share their fears, hopes, needs and prayers with one another weekly as they meet at the Mama Na Dada Center. Additionally, they embark together on trips to other villages to share their experiences with other people living with HIV/AIDS and to swap ideas on how to live positively. They are also involved in handicrafts such as straw hats and baskets.  Members have access to nutritional vitamins, lectures and educational videos and supplies including mosquito nets, blankets, clothing, and food courtesy of Mama Na Dada. To date, there are 26 members ranging in age from 18 to 75.
