Stay Alive! One-Stop Youth Center

Youth GroupThis multiracial, multireligious, multiethnic group of 12 to 25 year old girls and boys creates a rich intercultural exchange and learning forum for youths. Members of this lively group have, among other projects: disseminated HIV prevention strategies through drama; conducted clean-up days in the slums; helped put on self-esteem building events (such as the fabulous fashion show in Kunya Village, in July 2003); helped repair and rebuild homes for widows, orphans and PLWAs (People Living with AIDS.) They are an awesome bunch of delightful, enthusiastic young people who inspire and bring hope to so many struggling with seemingly hopeless life Youth Groupchallenges in Kenya, Africa.

Mama na Dada works with youth and has been one of the front runners in facilitating education for the youth on sexual and mental health as well as HIV prevention.   The organization appreciates the role of youth as change agents because they are in many instances more creative, risk tolerant and in touch with society’s needs.  The organization carries out substance abuse prevention counseling, and runs youth-friendly HIV Voluntary Counseling and Testing Centres.   Mama na Dada also runs support groups for youth, which offer clients an opportunity to resolve problems in a Stay Alive Campaignsocial context and share experiences with people who have similar experiences, in a safe group setting, facilitated by a qualified counselor. “Stay Alive Youth and VCT Centre, Buru Buru” was registered by the government of Kenya in February 2004 and is run by qualified youth counselors and senior counseling supervisors.

The Centre offers the following youth services:-

Most of these services are free and offered by volunteers.
